President Tinubu has made a fresh appointment amid a cabinet reshuffle.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ojukaye Amachree as the new Director of Energy Security in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

In a statement issued by Zakari Mijinyawa, head of Strategic Communications in ONSA, Amachree’s role will involve overseeing policy coordination, infrastructure protection strategies, risk advisory, and building strategic alliances within the energy sector. He will also focus on ensuring the security of Nigeria’s energy resources and promoting long-term energy sustainability through community involvement.

“In this new role, Hon. Amachree will oversee key national energy security initiatives aimed at enhancing energy security as well as strengthening community participation in safeguarding Nigeria’s energy resources to support short and long-term energy sustainability,” the statement read.

Amachree, with over 20 years of experience in business, politics, and energy sector engagement, particularly in the Niger Delta, is expected to collaborate with government ministries, security agencies, and international partners to address current and future energy challenges.

Mijinyawa emphasized that the appointment highlights Tinubu’s dedication to reinforcing energy security and addressing supply chain concerns. National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, also congratulated Amachree on his new role.

Meanwhile, NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu is reportedly preparing to reshuffle his cabinet in anticipation of Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations on October 1.

Sources within the presidency revealed to BusinessDay that this decision is a direct response to growing criticisms regarding the administration’s handling of the economy.

Reliable insiders indicated that several key ministries are likely to be affected by the upcoming reshuffle, including the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Environment, and Ministry of Defense.
