Popular Northern Emir is dead and his cause of death has been revealed.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major General Muhammad Sani Sami (Rtd.), also known as Gomo II, has died at the age of 79.
He reportedly passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, inside his palace in Zuru, according to family sources.

Life and Career
Born in Zuru, Kebbi State, the late monarch had a distinguished career in the Nigerian Army, which he joined on December 10, 1962. He attended several military courses both within Nigeria and abroad, rising through the ranks to become a Major General before retiring.
After the military coup of December 31, 1983, which brought General Muhammadu Buhari to power, he was appointed Military Governor of Bauchi State, a position he held until August 1985, when General Ibrahim Babangida assumed leadership.
Legacy
Until his passing, Emir Sani Sami was a highly respected first-class traditional ruler in Kebbi State, widely admired for his contributions to national unity, peace, and development.
