PDP Senators have dumped party over prolonged crisis.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a fresh toll, as two serving senators from Osun State have officially resigned from the party, citing irreconcilable differences and persistent legal battles that have plagued the opposition since the 2023 general elections.

Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, and Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi of Osun Central, announced their resignation from the PDP in separate letters addressed to their respective ward chairmen.

Fadahunsi, a second-term lawmaker and one of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s notable allies, submitted his resignation in a letter dated June 12, 2025, to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman in Obokun Local Government Area. In the letter, he blamed his exit on “irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedeviled the party at the national level after the 2023 general elections.”

He added that his decision came after wide consultations with political associates, family, and supporters.

“It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith,” he wrote.

Similarly, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, in a letter dated July 12, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 3 Chairman in Oke Ejigbo, Ila Orangun, also blamed internal wrangling and factionalism within the party.

“Irreconcilable differences, irreparable divisions, and court cases over the past three years have fractured the party’s focus and unity,” Fadeyi stated.

He noted that the decision to leave the PDP was not made lightly, but was necessary due to the unresolved issues and continuous litigations that have weakened the party’s national leadership and coherence.

The resignation of the two senators marks a significant blow to the PDP’s influence in Osun State and signals growing discontent among its top lawmakers amid prolonged factional disputes and dwindling party cohesion.
