Marketers have resumed loading at Dangote Refinery and Petrol Price expected to drop.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that petroleum marketers across Nigeria have confirmed that loading of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, has resumed at the Dangote Refinery, a development expected to ease fuel scarcity and reduce pump prices nationwide.

The President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, disclosed this in an interview with DAILY POST on Monday, stating that IPMAN members have already begun loading petrol from the 650,000 barrels-per-day Dangote Refinery.

According to Maigandi, marketers are currently loading at ₦877 per litre, up from ₦820, but the renewed supply is expected to bring down the retail price of petrol in the coming days.

“Our members have started loading at the Dangote Refinery at ₦877 per litre. We expect that as more products become available, petrol prices will drop a little. I can’t specify how much, but there will be a reduction,” Maigandi said.

Similarly, Billy Gillis-Harry, National President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN), confirmed that the increased availability from Dangote and other depots will stabilize supply and make fuel more affordable for Nigerians.

“Whenever there is enough supply from Dangote Refinery or other marketers, the market becomes wet, and prices naturally come down,” he noted.

Field checks by NewsOnline revealed that major outlets including MRS, Emedeb, Optima, and Bova filling stations have resumed dispensing fuel after days of scarcity.

In the past two weeks, petrol prices had surged to between ₦940 and ₦965 per litre in parts of Abuja, with stakeholders blaming the increase on supply disruptions at the refinery.

Last week, Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, announced that over 310 million litres of petrol were being loaded at the refinery, signaling an improvement in output and distribution.

The development comes as Nigerians hope for a sustained drop in fuel prices and improved supply stability across the country.
