New Defence Minister Christopher Musa has vowed to end the killings of Nigerians.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nigeria’s newly appointed Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has issued a strong warning to terrorists and criminal elements, declaring that the continuous killing of innocent citizens must come to an end.

Musa, who until recently served as the Chief of Defence Staff, made the declaration on Friday as he formally assumed duty at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja. He emphasised that Nigerians must be free to live, learn, and work without fear.

Addressed by cheering ministry workers who welcomed him with solidarity songs, the new minister said the era of hesitation in the fight against insecurity was over.

“We do not have time; we are going to hit the ground running,” he stated. “Our loyalty is to Nigeria and to the Nigerian people. The shedding of innocent blood must stop. Children should be able to return to school, and farmers must have access to their farmlands without fear.”

Musa added that with the support and prayers of Nigerians, the defence sector would not fail in its mission to secure the nation.

His appointment follows the resignation of former Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru. President Bola Tinubu nominated Musa as his replacement, and the Senate confirmed him on Thursday after an extensive screening session. He was officially sworn in on Friday at the Presidential Villa.
