BREAKING: Court Rules DSS Medical Facility Adequate for Nnamdi Kanu’s Treatment

“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case has just been adjourned to 23rd October 2025 for commencement of his defence. The judge further held that the DSS medical facility is adequate for his medical care and that MNK has until 30th October to close his defence,” Ejimakor wrote.

Court has ruled DSS medical facility adequate for Nnamdi Kanu’s treatment and set deadline to close defence.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled that the Department of State Services (DSS) medical facility is sufficient to cater to the health needs of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The court, presided over by Justice James Omotosho, also directed Kanu to conclude his defence by October 30, 2025, while fixing October 23, 2025, for the commencement of his defence in the ongoing terrorism trial.

One of Kanu’s lawyers, Aloy Ejimakor, disclosed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter), confirming the court’s position on his client’s medical treatment and defence timeline.

“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case has just been adjourned to 23rd October 2025 for commencement of his defence. The judge further held that the DSS medical facility is adequate for his medical care and that MNK has until 30th October to close his defence,” Ejimakor wrote.

Kanu, who has been in DSS custody, is facing terrorism-related charges filed by the Federal Government. The court’s ruling reinforces its earlier stance that Kanu is fit to stand trial following a medical review by a panel of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).
