Atiku Abubakar has denied quitting 2027 Presidency to support Peter Obi.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed reports claiming that he has withdrawn from the 2027 presidential contest to support Peter Obi, describing the claims as false and misleading.

Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, was alleged in the reports to have stepped aside in favour of Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 flagbearer. The claims also suggested that Atiku endorsed a one-term presidency for Obi to promote regional balance.

However, Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, firmly debunked the story, labelling it as fake news.

Reacting on Saturday, December 27, Ibe shared a screenshot of the report on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, writing: “Fake news: Not on the menu!”

The denial comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with reports suggesting that Peter Obi may be planning to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Atiku has not indicated any intention to abandon his presidential ambition, and his camp insists that speculations about alliances or withdrawals remain unfounded.
