APC has disqualified Fubara Loyalists and cleared Wike-backed Lawmakers ahead of 2027 Primaries in Rivers.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has released the list of cleared and disqualified aspirants ahead of the party’s primaries for the 2027 general elections.

According to the list made public by the party, 33 aspirants were cleared to participate in the primaries, while 65 others failed to scale through the screening process.

Notably, all 32 aspirants reportedly aligned with Governor Siminalayi Fubara were disqualified from the exercise.

Meanwhile, incumbent members of the Rivers State House of Assembly believed to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, were cleared by the screening committee.

In a statement issued by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, aspirants who purchased the House of Assembly Expression of Interest and Nomination forms were advised to confirm their screening status at the party’s secretariat located along Aba Road in Port Harcourt.

Ikenga also stated that appeals arising from the screening outcome should be submitted through the party secretariat.

According to him, the appeal process is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 12, at 10 a.m.

The screening committee, in its report, listed several reasons for the disqualification of affected aspirants.

Among the reasons cited were alleged nomination irregularities, failure to present valid voter cards, absence of party membership slips, conflicting dates of birth, inconsistencies in submitted documents, invalid affidavits, and insufficient nominations from wards.

The committee also cited inducement and attempted bribery of committee members, failure to confirm payment of membership dues by nominators, and issues relating to affidavits connected to NECO certificates as part of the grounds for disqualification.
