Amaechi has declared 2027 Presidential ambition under ADC and vowed not to step down for Atiku and Obi.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that he will not step down for any aspirant.

Amaechi made the announcement on Wednesday during an interaction with journalists in Kano State, stressing that his ambition is non-negotiable.

“I will contest the ADC presidential primary, and by God’s grace, I hope to win so that I can face Tinubu in 2027. I am not stepping down for anyone. Let the people decide who they want to lead,” Amaechi said.

The former governor emphasized the need for internal democracy within the ADC, calling for an open contest that would strengthen the party ahead of the general elections.

Amaechi also launched a scathing criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying Nigerians have grown increasingly disillusioned with its policies.

“Whether the government wants to conduct credible elections or not, one thing is certain—time is up. Nigerians are tired because no one is happy under Tinubu, not even in Rivers or across the South. People are suffering everywhere,” he declared.

He further accused President Tinubu of lopsided appointments, alleging that only close allies of the president have been rewarded, leaving many others across regions sidelined.

On the issue of zoning within the ADC, Amaechi said the decision rests with party leaders but maintained that his participation in the primaries remains firm.

“I will remain in the race regardless of the outcome. If you look at all those aspiring, including Tinubu, who is better prepared than I am? My candidacy offers unity because I come from the South, and we are not in conflict with any region,” he noted.

When asked about the rising influence of his political rival, Nyesom Wike, in Rivers State, Amaechi dismissed the claim, pointing to the massive crowd that welcomed him during a recent ADC inauguration in the state.

Amaechi concluded by insisting that he is one of the most qualified and credible aspirants, promising Nigerians a credible alternative to the APC in 2027.
