Ekubo’s film debut was a minor role in Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen‘s Sinners in the House (2005); his first major role was in Ladies Men several years later.

He is the son of Jane Ekubo-Okwaraeke (mother) and Mazi Ekubo-Okwaraeke (father).
His dad was a petroleum marketer, and his mum was a fashion designer and an entrepreneur. He has 3 siblings.

Their traditional wedding was supposed to hold on Saturday 20 November in Imo State, while the white wedding on the upper Saturday, 27 November in Lagos State. In August 2021 Alex’s fiancée called off their engagement with Fancy Acholonu releasing a statement that their relationship has ended.

The American-born model took to her Instagram page on Thursday, August 26, 2021, where she revealed that she has ended her relationship and engagement with the movie star.
