NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Access Bank Plc has appointed Oluseyi Kumapayi as Deputy Managing Director, African Subsidiaries, and Olanrewaju Bamisebi as Executive Director, Information Technology and Digitalisation, as part of efforts to strengthen its leadership structure and drive operational efficiency.
The appointments, which received the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), took effect on October 27 and October 28, 2026, respectively, according to a regulatory disclosure by Access Holdings Plc to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and the investing public.
Kumapayi was elevated from his previous position as Executive Director, African Subsidiaries, while Bamisebi joins the board of Access Bank from Access Holdings, where he served as Executive Director, Information Technology and Digitalisation.
The appointments reflect the Group’s strategic focus on improving profitability, capital efficiency, operational performance and sustainable shareholder returns as it shifts from expanding its business scale to maximising value across its existing operations.

Kumapayi will retain responsibility for Access Bank’s African subsidiaries, with an expanded mandate to improve profitability, capital productivity, operational performance and cross-border business integration. He will also support the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in the broader management of the bank.
He brings more than 25 years of banking experience across financial management, strategy, risk, treasury and business development. He joined Access Bank in 2002 and served as Group Chief Financial Officer from 2007 to 2020.
Since November 2020, he has served as Executive Director, African Subsidiaries, overseeing the bank’s operations across its African markets.
Kumapayi is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and holds an Executive MBA from IMD, Lausanne, and an Executive Master’s degree in Digital Transformation and Innovation Leadership from IE University, Madrid. He also holds degrees from the Universities of Lagos and Ibadan and attended Harvard Business School’s General Management Programme.
Bamisebi, who has more than 20 years of experience in technology transformation, digital banking, enterprise systems and operational management, will lead Access Bank’s technology and digitalisation strategy.
His responsibilities will include modernising technology platforms, improving operating efficiency, strengthening cybersecurity and operational resilience, and accelerating digital solutions to enhance customer experience and business performance.
Before joining Access Bank’s board, Bamisebi was Executive Director, Information Technology and Digitalisation at Access Holdings, where he oversaw the Group’s technology strategy and shared technology services.
He previously held senior positions at Equity Group Holdings Limited, including Group Director, Information Technology and Operations, and Managing Director of Finserve Africa. He also served as Group Chief Information Officer at Diamond Bank and held other technology leadership positions in Nigeria.
Bamisebi holds a BSc in Computing and Information Technology from the University of Derby, an MBA from Durham Business School, and qualifications in Computer Science and Accounting. He is also an alumnus of the Cambridge Judge Business School Senior Management Programme.
Commenting on the appointments, Access Holdings Group Chairman, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, said the changes were designed to improve the performance of the Group’s African subsidiaries and bring technology leadership closer to the bank’s operations and commercial priorities.
He said the Group was focused on translating its established banking presence across Africa and other international markets into stronger financial performance, improved efficiency and sustainable shareholder value.
“These appointments reflect that priority. Mr. Kumapayi’s elevation reinforces our determination to improve the performance and contribution of our African subsidiaries, while Mr. Bamisebi’s appointment reflects a deliberate decision to bring executive technology leadership closer to the Bank’s operations, customers and commercial priorities,” Aig-Imoukhuede said.
Access Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Roosevelt Ogbonna, said the bank would focus on improving productivity, profitability and the effective use of its capital, technology and existing market presence.
He noted that the bank’s African subsidiaries would prioritise stronger returns and improved execution, while its technology strategy would focus on simplifying platforms, improving reliability and accelerating innovation.
Ogbonna added that placing executive technology leadership directly within the bank’s management structure would strengthen the connection between technology investments and business performance.
The Board of Access Holdings congratulated both executives on their appointments, expressing confidence in their capacity to support the Group’s strategic objectives.
