FG has summoned Ibom Air Crew and Passenger Comfort Emmanson over mid-flight drama.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Government, through the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has summoned Ibom Air cabin crew member, Juliana Edward, and controversial passenger, Comfort Emmanson, for further investigations into last week’s mid-flight row.

NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, confirmed the move on Tuesday during the Emergency National Civil Aviation Security Committee and Stakeholders’ Meeting in Abuja.

“I have spoken with Ms. Emmanson this morning. We are also inviting the Ibom Air cabin crew for continued investigation on the incident. They will be here tomorrow,” Achimugu said.

He clarified that contrary to earlier reports, the pilot never called in security operatives upon landing in Lagos, as the situation had been settled before arrival. However, Emmanson reportedly went to the restroom after touchdown, making her the last passenger to leave the aircraft.

Achimugu stressed that the NCAA remained committed to establishing all the facts surrounding the controversial incident.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai, linked the rising cases of in-flight misconduct to a “decline in discipline among passengers, airport staff, and crew.”

The NCAA also reiterated its directive that all mobile phones must be completely switched off during take-off and landing to ensure flight safety.
