President Tinubu reportedly embarrassed Shehu Umar by withdrawing his appointment.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has withdrawn Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani’s appointment as the Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI) just hours after it was announced.
Earlier, a statement by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga had introduced Danfulani as the new appointee,
But later, a fresh statement by Onanuga revealed that Fatima Umaru Shinkafi, who previously held the position since her appointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari, would retain her role.

The update disclosed that Shinkafi remains instrumental in ongoing reforms in the solid minerals sector, and the earlier announcement regarding Danfulani was cancelled as the position is not vacant.
“The earlier announcement about the appointment of Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani as the Executive Secretary of the SMDF/PAGMI, has been cancelled as there is no vacancy in the agency,” Onanuga wrote in the fresh statement on Friday night.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu on Friday made key appointments in the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), and the New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD).
Tinubu appointed a visiting professor at the NUC, Prof. Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, as the NUC Executive Secretary.
The president also appointed a renowned educational and human Psychology academic, Prof. Salisu Shehu, as Executive Secretary of the NERDC.
Jabilu Tsauri, who holds a Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, was appointed the National Coordinator of NEPAD.
