Labour Party Candidate, Olumide Akpata has been trashed out of the Edo governorship race.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party (LP) candidate for the Edo governorship race, is out of contention, according to results from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Viewing Portal (iRev).

This Nigeria news platform had earlier reported that Akpata lost at his polling unit, Ward 6, Oredo Local Government Area, to Asue Ighodalo of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Ighodalo secured 41 votes, while Akpata received 32.

With over 89.93% of the total results uploaded on iRev, it’s evident that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading in Edo North, while the PDP has taken the lead in Edo South.

In key local government areas, the APC maintained a strong presence.

In Etsako West, Igbira Camp Booth, APC garnered 90 votes, with LP trailing at 13 and PDP close behind at 85. Similarly, in Owan West, APC took 90 votes, LP earned 13, and PDP secured 75.

The PDP also had victories in areas like Ikpoba-Okha, where its Deputy Governorship candidate, Osarodion Ogie, secured a decisive win with 216 votes at Ward 7, Unit 17.

Meanwhile, Senator Monday Okpehbolo of the APC dominated his polling unit in Esan Central Local Government Area, winning with 102 votes.

These results indicate a competitive race, with each party finding strongholds in various regions across Edo State.
