Wike’s responsibilities and engagements, primarily as the FCT minister, will suffer a setback as the crisis in his home state festers.

President Tinubu is currently under pressure with calls from different quarters to sack embattled FCT Minister, Wike.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hamma-Ahmed Hayatu, has urged President Bola Tinubu to sack Nyesom Wike as the minister in charge of the Federal Capital Territory.

This Nigeria news platform understands that Hayatu, a vociferous supporter of former vice president Atiku Abubakar, gave that advice to the president on Wednesday in a social media post.  He said Tinubu ought to relieve Wike from his position as the FCT minister due to political conflicts in Rivers State.

According to him, Wike’s responsibilities and engagements, primarily as the FCT minister, will suffer a setback as the crisis in his home state festers.

His words:

”I think Wike is now distracted in his fight with Rivers state Governor. As such, it is not out of order for President Bola Tinubu to relieve him as FCT minister to go face his war without bringing the federal government into disrepute.”

There are ongoing disagreements between Wike and his successor, Sim Fubara, over control of Rivers politics.  Already, the state House of Assembly has been divided into two camps, with some lawmakers loyal to Wike while others are loyal to the incumbent governor.
