1. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday, approved the immediate termination of the appointments of 21 heads of parastatals, agencies, and government companies of the FCT Administration (FCTA). This was contained in a statement by the Director of Press, Office of the Minister, Anthony Ogunleye.

2. There is a security threat to the November 11 governorship elections in Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa states, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on Thursday. It added that there is a need for the government to bring down the level of insecurity to guarantee free and credible elections.

3. The Afenifere, pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, on Wednesday said former president Olusegun Obasanjo should apologise to Oke-Ogun traditional rulers for subjecting them to ridicule in Iseyin, two weeks ago. In a communique after a meeting in Ondo State, the group also urged Nigerians to support the Bola Tinubu administration in its bid to reposition the country.

4. Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have arrested two women suspected to be supplying bandits with arms and ammunitions in Kaduna, Niger and environs. The suspects identified as Rashida Umar and Rukaiya ladan were arrested in Fadan-Karshe, Sanga Local Government Area in the Southern part of Kaduna.

5. The Ondo State Police Command on Wednesday said it would soon arrest a middle-aged woman, Mrs Tayelolu Solomon, for allegedly killing her husband, Mr Felix Solomon. Tayelolu was reported to have hit her 67-year-old husband with a pestle on Saturday at the GRA area of Ondo town in Ondo State when the deceased was asleep.

6. The National Deputy President of the Trade Union Congress, Tommy Etim, said on Wednesday that nothing would stop the labour strike, noting that Nigerian workers were disenchanted with the Federal Government. He stated that the unions had given the government sufficient time to address their demands, stressing that the workers would not allow themselves to be deceived any longer.

7. Ebonyi and Abia states led as food prices jumped by 31 per cent within 12 months from July 2022 to July 2023. This is according to an analysis of the ‘Selected Food Price Watch,’ a report published on a monthly basis by the National Bureau of Statistics.

8. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi State, on Wednesday vowed to appeal the judgment upholding the election of Francis Nwifuru as the Governor of the State. The party also urged its supporters to remain calm and peaceful, assuring that it would reclaim its mandate at the appellate court.

9. The leadership of the Labour Party has declared support for the proposed indefinite strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress,TUC, to press home their demands for better working conditions. The party said it was in total support of any legitimate means to be deployed by Nigerian workers to press for such demands.

10. One person has been reported dead while 14 others were injured in a road crash involving two vehicles on Long Bridge by Hogan Guard area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Tuesday. According to an eyewitness, the crash occurred when a tyre of a Volkswagen minibus conveying passengers pulled out, forcing it to collide with a Toyota Camry car.
