Good morning! Here is the summary of the top Nigerian Newspaper Headlines today.

1. The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in Ogun State has threatened to shut down all its outlets across the state over the ultimatum issued to marketers by the Department of State Security (DSS). Reacting to the DSS ultimatum, IPMAN said such policy has failed “in its sense of reasoning with genuine business operators who do not get product from government’s depot to sell same at government approved price.”

2. An illegal fuel depot has been destroyed by fire in the Adamawa State capital, Yola. The fire broke out late Wednesday evening at the depot, beside a famous road junction called Roundabout Maidoki, near the Yola International Airport entrance gate, Jimeta.

3. Senator Ben Obi and Prof Obiora Okonkwo, respectively, the chairman and director general of Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council in Anambra State, yesterday revealed that a special team is working to resolve the impasse between the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and the G5 governors.

4. The newly redesigned naira notes will go into circulation on Thursday (today), with Deposit Money Banks releasing the bills to their customers via over-the-counter payments. This came about three weeks after President Muhammadu Buhari, unveiled the new bills at a weekly Federal Executive Council meeting in Aso Rock Villa.

5. France beat Morocco 2-0 on Wednesday to set up a World Cup final showdown against Argentina and Lionel Messi. Theo Hernandez put the defending champions ahead in the fifth minute after Morocco failed to clear their lines, and substitute Randal Kolo Muani doubled their lead in the 79th minute.

6. The Federal Government, on Wednesday, approved a new whistleblower draft bill. It also lamented that the existing whistle-blowing policy launched on December 21, 2016, was losing momentum. The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Dr. Zainab Ahmed, disclosed this yesterday.

7. Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have neutralised a suspected kidnapper during a gun duel with members of his gang. It was gathered that the incident happened around 2 am on December 13 following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer at Ozoro, in the Isoko North Local Government Area of the state.

8. The Senate, on Wednesday, called on the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), to make an upward adjustment of the proposed N100,000 per week for individuals and N500,000 per week for Corporate bodies in response to public outcry. The Senate also directed its Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions to embark on aggressive oversight of CBN on its commitment to flexible adjustment of the withdrawal limit.

9. Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has confirmed that most people from the region, especially women, were selling their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to politicians and political parties for a pittance. The group stated this against the backdrop of the complaint by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on sales of PVCs in the country.

10. The United States government said its goal is to provide adequate support for the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and ensure a free, fair and credible general election in 2023. The Consul General for the U.S. Mission in Lagos, Will Stevens, stated this on while speaking at an interactive session marking the US-Africa Leaders Summit 2022 at the American Corner in Lagos on Wednesday.
