2023 Election: Keyamo Demands Peter Obi Apologizes To Tinubu

The spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Festus Keyamo, has demanded an apology from the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi to Bola Tinubu.

Newsonline reports that the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Keyamo argued that only an apology from the former governor of Anambra state would assuage the wrong he did to the former governor of Lagos State.

Keyamo said the WhatsApp message purported to be from a Tinubu supporter which Peter Obi gave some persons to read out was a gaffe he committed against the person of the APC presidential candidate.

Recall that a video had trended on social media, which showed the Labour Party presidential candidate giving another man his phone to read a WhatsApp message allegedly sent by one in Tinubu support group.

In the message, the claimed supporter was calling on Yoruba people not to vote for the Labour Party candidate, arguing that the Igbo people who trade in Lagos would relocate to the East as Peter Obi will open a seaport in Onitsha, Anambra state if elected president.

However, what brought the reaction of Keyamo asking for an apology from Obi was an interview the youth’s choice had with a journalist, Chude Jideonwo, where he commended Tinubu for his contributions to the national development.

In a part of the interview, Peter Obi said, “Tinubu is an elder brother of mine and I respect him for who he is. They have contributed one way or the other in the past and they have to be respected and recognized in due time, but I just tried to explain that because they contributed in the past and everything doesn’t necessarily mean that they have to stay forever and ever. They move on and things move on.
“It’s like Brazil today, they recognize that some time ago Pele was a star, a fantastic footballer, but they are not going to field him in today’s match.”

Reacting, Keyamo said, “Tinubu has contributed to Nigeria’s success, all I am saying is that he should step down and allow others(like me) to rule.”- Peter Obi” quoting the Labour Party presidential candidate.

He added, “This is to cover up for the gaffe you committed by reading a fake post on Whatsapp and wrongly attributing it to Ahmed Bola Tinubu. Just apologize.
