Buhari @80: Osinbajo, Lawan, Akinwumi Praise The President

The inability to resolve the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, within two weeks, as directed by President Buhari has been described as weakness on the side of the president.

Newsonline reports that a former Media Aide to Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, Tanko Yakasai, said the president has lost control of his appointees.

Salihu Tanko Yakasai, who was fired by Abdullahi Ganduje for criticizing President Buhari on insecurity said it was worrisome that after the two weeks ultimatum given to the Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu had expired, the ASUU strike continues without an end in sight.

Yakasai tweeted: “I’ve never seen a weak president like Muhammadu Buhari. He gives directives to his appointees and they ignore it without consequences.

“He gave 2 weeks ultimatum for ASUU strike to be resolved, nobody took him seriously and the time has elapsed. Shamefully embarrassing to say the least!”

Recall that President Buhari, on July 19, directed the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, to resolve the prolonged strike and report back to him in two weeks’ time.

Since February 14, 2022, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, the umbrella body for university lecturers were on an indefinite strike over the inability of the federal government to meet their demands.
