1. Gunmen, yesterday, killed two people and abducted four others, amongst them, Reverend Father Joseph Akeke of Kudenda Catholic Church in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The two people killed were identified as Luka, a local guard manning the house of the Reverend Father and Isiaka Aremu, whose home was also attacked.

2. Following the sack of Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi and his deputy, Kelechi Igwe, by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday, nominated Iduma Enwo Igariwey, a member of the House of Representatives, as the governor’s replacement.

3. Sixty-three members of a volunteer security group, popularly known as Yan-Sa-Kai, who were reportedly killed by bandits at Anemi, a village under Zuru Emirate of Kebbi State, were on a mission to repel an attack by the bandits. Among those killed, it was gathered, were a father and his son who joined the mission.

4. The House of Representatives, yesterday, urged the Federal Government to take diplomatic action with Ukrainian authorities to extend humanitarian needs to Nigerians, including students trapped in the war-torn area. This followed the adoption of a motion by Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, who called for extension of humanitarian aids to Nigerians, especially students stranded in Sumy, to enable them exit the country.

5. A magistrate’s court sitting in Nomansland area of Kano metropolis has ordered the remand of Abdulmajid Danbilki Kwamanda, a renowned critic of Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje. He was arraigned on three-count charges bordering on character assassination of the Governor.

6. Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has declared that he is still in office, accusing Justice Inyang Ekwo of attempting to embarrass the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking at a press conference in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi, on Tuesday, Umahi accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of procuring the judgement.

7. Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday, asked the Federal Government to toe the path of the Benin Republic by releasing the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. A statement by the President-General of OYC, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, said the continuous detention of Kanu in DSS custody was not in anyone’s interest.

8. The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has disclosed that the Bus Rapid Transit Vehicle boarded by the deceased 22-year-old lady, Oluwabamishe Ayanwole who was allegedly killed by the driver, was locally supplied and has no inbuilt camera. The governor stated this while briefing journalists on Tuesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan to commemorate International Women’s Day.

9. INEC on Tuesday said it was yet to be served the certified True Copy of the Federal High Court that sacked Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and his Deputy, Chief Kelechi Igwe. Mr Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee disclosed this in an interview.

10. The rising prices of crude since the Russia-Ukraine war began, coupled with exchange rate instability in Nigeria, among others, have pushed up the prices of refined petroleum products across the country. Oil marketers said the rise in global crude oil prices had been pushing up the cost of Automotive Gas Oil, popularly called diesel, aviation fuel, as well as petrol.
