Supreme court has restored David Mark as ADC National Chairman and voided appeal court order.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Supreme Court of Nigeria has set aside the order of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria which barred the recognition of David Mark as National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a unanimous judgment delivered on Thursday, the apex court ruled that the preservative order issued by the Court of Appeal was unnecessary, improper, and made in bad faith.

Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba, who delivered the lead judgment, held that the appellate court lacked justification to issue the order since none of the parties involved in the case had requested it.

The controversial “status quo ante bellum” order by the Court of Appeal had led to the derecognition of the David Mark-led ADC executive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Following the Supreme Court ruling, David Mark and other members of the party’s national executive are now to be officially recognised by INEC as the legitimate leadership of the ADC.

The judgment is expected to strengthen the party’s internal structure as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue.
