Over 2000 APC Members have joined PDP in Bwari alone.

 

News Online reports that over two thousand members of the ruling All Progressive Party (APC) has defected to the opposition People’s Democratic Party in Bwari Area Council, this is just as the council’s elections is fast approaching.

Chairman of the area council John Gabaya, while receiving the defectors in Bwari, Abuja, said the area council under his leadership is committed to development, expressing satisfaction on the decamped members for making the right choice of joining the party.

Gabana assured of more committment to developmental projects in the area council, appealing to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, and the Minister of state to ensure a free and fair election that will enable indigenes make the right choices come 2022.

“I was an APC member but I also decamped to the PDP and I believe the decamped members today has seen the same things I saw when I decamped and I welcome all of them happily, we will work together for the growth and development of the area council.

“I want to appeal to the FCT Minister and the Minister of state to help us ensure that the election is free and fair so everyone can exercise their franchise, I believe there will be no problems of anyone influencing the elections. The Minister has done this before and we believe he will do it again,” he said.

PDP Chairman in the FCT, Hon. Sunday Dakka, expressed joy receiving decamped members of the APC to the PDP, saying that the development projects carried out by the Area Council Chairman is capable of attractibg more members to the party.

“Bwari Area Council is seeing the light under the PDP because what is meant for the people the Chairman has ensured that it gets to them. We didn’t hijack the party rather we gave it back to the people and that is why you see top members of the ruling party in Bwari Area Council joining the opposition PDP,” he said.

One of the decamped members Haruna Osaka, lauded the leadership style of the Area Council Chairman, noting that he has achieved a lot in the short period and deserves support to carry out more grassroots development project.
