President Tinubu has approved the reconstruction of Niger Roads, and extend Bodo–Bonny Road to East–West Highway.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate reconstruction of three major federal roads in Niger State and the extension of the Bodo–Bonny Road to link the East–West Road in Rivers State.

The approval was granted during a meeting between the President and the Minister of Works, David Umahi, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s road infrastructure and enhance connectivity across key regions.

The three road projects slated for reconstruction in Niger State will be built using reinforced concrete pavement to ensure durability and long-term value. The roads include:

  • Mokwa–Bida Road (120km)

  • Mokwa–Makera Road (63km)

  • Bida–Lambata Road (123.5km)

In Rivers State, the Bodo–Bonny Road project will be extended to connect with the East–West Road, boosting economic activities and improving access within the oil-rich region.

The extension will be constructed as a dual carriageway and built with reinforced concrete pavement. It will also feature solar-powered street lighting to enhance safety and sustainability.

The projects form part of the federal government’s broader commitment to improving transportation infrastructure and promoting economic development nationwide.
