UBA Foundation has delivered a Continent-Wide Humanitarian Aid and reached record 100,000+ vulnerable people across Africa.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that UBA Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, has deepened its pan-African humanitarian impact with the distribution of essential food items, educational materials, and cash support worth several millions of naira and dollars to vulnerable communities across Nigeria and 19 other African countries.

The intervention, executed under the Foundation’s Food Bank and Giving Back initiatives, reached over 100,000 beneficiaries between November 2025 and January 2026, targeting schoolchildren, orphanages, internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, and underserved communities. The initiative was designed to ease the financial pressures typically associated with the year-end and start-of-year period, while reinforcing UBA Foundation’s commitment to hope, resilience, and inclusive development across Africa.

In Nigeria, the outreach cut across all geopolitical zones, impacting orphanages, homes, and IDP camps nationwide. Beneficiaries included the Daughter of Mercy Mother of Mary Orphanage Home in Abia, Trinitarian Foundation for Orphans and the Helpless in Ebonyi, The Destitute Home Okobaba in Lagos, Oyiza Orphanage and Foster Foundation in Oyo, Itsoghena Orphanage Home in Edo, Enoima Children Home in Akwa Ibom, Yekope Orphanage in Kogi, IDP camps in Niger and Borno States, UMCN Orphanage Home in Taraba, Kebbi Children’s Home, and the Orphanage Home in Dutse, Jigawa State, among others.

Beyond Nigeria, UBA Foundation replicated similar humanitarian and nutritional support programmes across Benin Republic, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Congo DRC, Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, collectively impacting several hundreds of thousands of people.

Speaking during visits to some beneficiary institutions, including the Destitute Home Okobaba in Lagos, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA Foundation, Bola Atta, reiterated the Foundation’s philosophy of year-round impact.

“At UBA Foundation, we believe that true development begins with compassion and action,” Atta said. “Through our Food Bank and Giving Back initiatives, we are not only providing nourishment and essential support, but also restoring hope and creating pathways for children and families to learn, grow, and thrive. This is our commitment to Africa to show up consistently, act responsibly, and leave no community behind.”

She added that the Foundation’s interventions are deliberately structured to address both immediate and long-term needs. “Our programmes aim to support people by equipping them with the right tools, alongside the essential nourishment required for cognitive development and physical well-being,” she said.

UBA Foundation has built a strong legacy of philanthropy across the continent through initiatives such as the National Essay Competition, Read Africa Project, Tree Planting for Sustainability, Health Outreaches, Each One Teach One, Kindness Connect, and the Food Bank programme, all targeted at poverty alleviation and empowerment of underserved populations.

As the CSR arm of the UBA Group, the Foundation remains committed to driving socio-economic development in the communities where the bank operates, with strategic focus on education, environmental sustainability, economic empowerment, and special social impact projects across Africa.
