ADC Chieftain has claimed that President Trump is convinced that the Nigerian Government is not serious about fighting insecurity.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has claimed that U.S. President Donald Trump is convinced the Nigerian government is not genuinely committed to tackling the country’s worsening insecurity.

This comes after Trump, last Saturday, reportedly ordered the Pentagon to draw up a possible plan of attack in Nigeria, a day after he warned that Christianity was facing an existential threat in Africa’s most populous nation.

In a social media post, Trump had declared that if Nigeria fails to halt the killings of Christians, the United States will strike, promising it would be “fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our cherished Christians.”

He reiterated his readiness to launch military operations in Nigeria over what he described as the government’s failure to protect Christians from ongoing attacks.

Reacting during an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, ADC chieftain Momodu urged the Nigerian government to address the issues raised by Trump rather than dismiss them.

He lamented the continued killings by gunmen and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to identify and eliminate criminal elements across the country.

“From the videos of President Trump that I’ve watched, it’s clear he is convinced by the reports presented to him,” Momodu said.
“He believes the Nigerian government is not serious, not ready, and merely trying to buy time to return to its usual hanky-panky.”

Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Fight Terrorism

Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening global partnerships and strengthening Nigeria’s fight against terrorism and criminality.

Speaking shortly after a briefing by Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Thursday, Tinubu noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda continues to stimulate investor confidence and yield positive economic outcomes.

Acknowledging the scale of the country’s security and economic challenges, the President stated:

“The task ahead is immense. But we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose, to defeat terrorism and build a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient Nigeria.”
