NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund.

The Osun State Government announced the appointment on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, describing it as part of ongoing efforts to revamp and strengthen the state’s sports sector.

The appointment was announced by the Osun State Government on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, as part of its efforts to reposition and revitalise the state’s sports sector.

According to the statement, Davido’s new role is designed to mobilise resources for the development and modernisation of sports facilities across Osun State.

The government noted that the move underscores Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure and creating more opportunities for youth participation and empowerment through sports.

Confirming the appointment, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi—who also serves as Commissioner for Sports—revealed that the award-winning singer enthusiastically accepted the role.

“The ongoing rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards will be completed in the shortest possible time. We are also finalising plans to establish the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as the central body for sports development and policy implementation,” Adewusi stated.

He further explained that the newly established Sports Trust Fund, chaired by Davido, would attract investments and support from sports enthusiasts and philanthropists within and outside the state to ensure sustainable sports financing.

“Davido’s involvement is expected to draw substantial funding that will significantly enhance the growth of sports in Osun,” Adewusi added.

Governor Adeleke’s administration reaffirmed its dedication to making sports a major pillar for youth development, talent discovery, and community engagement across the state.
