Atiku held talks with ADP Chairman amid Obi–Kwankwaso alliance speculation ahead of 2027 elections.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has met with the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Yabagi Yusuf Sani, amid growing speculation over opposition alliances ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The meeting, which also had other senior ADP executives in attendance, reportedly took place on Saturday at Atiku’s residence in Abuja.

The engagement comes at a time when political permutations are intensifying within the opposition camp, with rumours suggesting ongoing discussions aimed at forming a broad coalition to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

In recent weeks, speculation has mounted that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso may emerge on a joint ticket under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Such a development could complicate Atiku’s own reported interest in securing the ADC presidential ticket.

However, speaking on the meeting, ADP National Chairman Yabagi Yusuf dismissed claims that the discussion centred on a party merger or coalition talks. He also clarified that the engagement was not about recruiting Atiku or any other individual into the ADP.

According to him, the meeting was a courtesy interaction and should not be interpreted as part of any formal political realignment ahead of the 2027 polls.
