The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has told youths in Benin, Edo State, that he has plans to convert youths into yahoo, ‘yahoo boys’ to tech experts if elected on February 25.

Newsonline reports that the former Lagos State governor said he was aware that most of the youths into yahoo – internet fraud – are victims of unemployment. He added that with employment most of the yahoo boys will engage their expertise in tech-based work.

The All Progressives Congress presidential candidate said this on Thursday while speaking at his campaign rally at the University of Benin Sports Complex, Ugbowo, Edo State.

Tinubu also told the youths to shun the advice of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, who advised youths in his letter to vote for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.

He (Tinubu) – who had earlier gone to seek Obasanjo’s endorsement –  said the endorsement of Peter Obi by the former president is deception. He accused Obasanjo of being responsible for most issues that plunged the nation into crisis.

He assured the youths that if elected, he would provide massive employment and soft credit facilities for small and medium enterprises to grow up.

Yahoo boys – a colloquial name for boys who engage in internet fraud in Nigeria – are accused of engaging in love scams, using pretence of love to obtain money from unsuspecting victims.
