Executive Governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo has revealed that his 100 days in office have saved the state N126 million per month for office cleaning.
Newsonline reports that Governor Charles Soludo disclosed that office cleaning used to cost the state government N137 million, but that has been cut down to N11 million saving the state N126 million.
Soludo who is giving an account of his 100 days of stewardship to Ndi Anambra said though his administration inherited an empty purse from the last administration, he was committed to ensuring that all frivolous expenses are cut out for good governance.
Governor Soludo said the N126 million the government has saved from the cleaning of government offices has been used to finance the building and reconstruction of roads and drainages in the state.
Soludo admitted that his 100 days in office have been difficult but the savings from prudent financial management, especially the office cleaning is bringing into the purse of the state government N1.512 billion per annum.
“An example of the orientation towards prudence and value for money is that the new Administration has re-negotiated the contracts for Facility Management (cleaning services for government offices) down from N137 million per month to N11 million per month, with a savings of N126 million per month or N1.512 billion per annum.
“With the savings in one month, we have fixed the dreaded Amansea road with its nightmarish logjam, the washout portion of federal road at Onitsha, and still have change to intervene in one other terrible spot. That’s the new normal for our administration: cutting waste and delivering service to the people!”
Governor Soludo also used his 100 days in office address to reinstate that public officers are banned from public donations and frivolous lifestyles. This he said was to ensure that state money is only used for its purpose. Read more.
