Xhaka recently left Arsenal for Bayer Leverkusen to take on a new challenge.
Newsonline Nigeria report that Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka, who now plays for Bayer Leverkusen, recently revealed the reasons behind his departure from Arsenal after seven years with the club.
This summer, Xhaka made a switch to Bayer Leverkusen, the Bundesliga champions, for a transfer fee of £21 million.
After spending seven years with Arsenal, the 30-years-old midfielder felt it was time for a new challenge.
Xhaka has denied rumors that his wife’s unhappiness in England was the reason behind the move.
In his own words, Xhaka explained, “I had an amazing seven years at Arsenal, and it was not an easy decision to leave. I didn’t want to play against them, and I know it wasn’t easy for the club to let me go.”
“Although he felt love and respect from Edu and Arteta, Xhaka wanted to takes on a new challenge by joining Bayer Leverkusen”.
