The official spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign organization for the Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima presidency in the 2023 election, Festus Keyamo has said Northern APC Christians were ignored for a Muslim running mate for a reason.
Newsonline reports that Keyamo said it would to a loss of vote for Bola Tinubu to have chosen a Christian from the North as vice-presidential candidate.
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment said the APC presidential candidate who is from minority Muslim in the South could not be expected to choose a Christian who is from the minority in the North.

Kayamo who stated this on Tuesday in an interview with BBC Igbo added that Nigerians are not divided by religion but by selfish interest of religious leaders.
In the interview, BBC journalist asked, “Northern Christians are not happy at APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket. What do you have to say about that?”
Keyamo responded, “it’s not true they’re not happy, some people are just making it seem so because of their selfish interest. Nigerians don’t care about religion.”
The journalist further asked, “but why the choice of Muslim-Muslim ticket? Is it that there is no northern Christian qualified for the vice-presidential position?”
In response, Keyamo said, “it’s not that no Northern Christian is qualified for the VP position, but the issue is, Tinubu is from Muslim minority region, and Christians are the minority in the north. So, if we pick a Christian from the North for the VP position, that would be minority Muslim, and minority Christian, there’s no how we would win the election, that’s the simple truth.”
