Announcing the initiative, Wema Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Moruf Oseni, reaffirmed the institution’s longstanding dedication to gender equality.
“Wema Bank has never paid lip service to gender inclusion. We walk the talk with pride. A society that excludes women is a society that is crippled. We remain committed to providing tailored opportunities for women and supporting their journeys toward building a society where every woman can thrive,” Oseni said.
He referenced the bank’s women-focused proposition, SARA by Wema, launched in 2019, as a key driver of its mission to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 on gender equality.
According to Oseni, this year’s IWD event is focused on deepening impact by encouraging both individuals and institutions to prioritise meaningful support for women.
