The Director of Special Media Operations and New Media Directorate of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, Femi Kayode has said the allegation that Bola Tinubu, APC presidential candidate ordered the assassination of Mueez Akande who was also named by the US heroin case file was lies.

Newsonline reports that Kayode said the assassination of Mueez was regrettable but lamented that Tinubu should be linked to the death.

In a now-deleted post on his Twitter handle, the former Minister of Aviation said Tinubu could not have ordered the assassination of Mueez Akande when the wife is a Lagos state commissioner.

Kayode said, “It is wicked and ungodly to play politics with the death of others. For members of the opposition to allege that Bola Tinubu ordered the assassination of Kola Mueez Akande in some kind of far-fetched and nonsensical ‘mafia-style drug lord’ is absurd and despicable.”

He added, “We have lost a man who was dear to many and who has a distinguished wife that is a Commissioner in the Lagos State Government. He also has children!”

The former minister of Aviation post was in response to a report by a national daily, stating Mueez who was named as a principal partner in the US heroin case in which Tinubu forfeited about $460,000 to the United States government died mysteriously on Friday.

David Hundeyin, an investigative journalist, who was behind the story that led to the discovery of more information about the drug trafficking and money laundering case against the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, in a tweet said Mueez said he would come clear to say every truth about the heroin case for the benefit of history before his mysterious death.

David Hundeyin, publisher of West Africa Weekly, however, clarified that information he got later after his tweet on the Mueez’s death was an error.

He said, “Not sure why ThisDay (the national daily that earlier published Mueez’s death) published such a story without confirming it, but my information now is that Dr. Kolapo Akande who just died is the elder brother of Mueez Adegboyega Akande, (who is still very much alive.). As such I’m taking down my earlier tweet with the ThisDay story link.”
