UNIJOS has announced a date to reopen after attacks on students.
Newsonline reports that the management of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has announced its reopening for full academic activities on August 30, 2021.
This online reliable newspaper understands that UNIJOS Registrar, Monday Danjem, made this known to newsmen via a statement on Tuesday, 24th August 2021 in a statement titled, ‘Re-opening of the school on the 30th of August 2021’.
Recall that UNIJOS was shut down following the killing of four students by hoodlums during a reprisal attack over the gruesome murder of 25 commuters at Rukuba Road, Plateau State.
Gunmen Storm Plateau Village, Kill SevenHowever, the UNIJOS Registrar, in a statement on Tuesday, said, “The management has assured that all measures have been taken to safeguard the lives and property of members of the university community especially staff and students.”
He further noted that security has been beefed up at various campuses and students’ hostels to forestall any breach.
Danjem added, “Giving an update of the security situation in the University, the Acting Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Gray Goziem Ejikeme called on all parents and guardians that the issue of security has been resolved and all security measures have been taken in other to protect the students and staff of the University of Jos.
“Consequently, the management of the University of Jos, after an emergency meeting with the Committee of Deans, Directors and Provost on Monday, 23th August, 2021, has approved the resumption of examinations for the Second Semester 2019/2020 academic session and all academic activities in the university will now continue as all ratification has been made by the Senate of the university,” the UNIJOS Registrar stated.
