Umahi Declares South-East Will Back Tinubu in 2027, Dismisses Obidient Movement

Umahi has declared that South-East will back Tinubu in 2027 and dismissed Obidient movement momentun in the region.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Minister of Works and former governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has declared that the South-East, particularly Ebonyi State, will support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Saturday at the Ohanivo 2025 New Yam Festival in Onicha Local Government Area, Umahi dismissed the influence of the Peter Obi-led Obidient Movement in the region, stressing that Ebonyi is not “Obidient.”

“We are not Obidient people. We have been so marginalized that we are no longer Obidient. No, we are not,” Umahi said.

According to him, President Tinubu has given the South-East a renewed sense of belonging, which will be reciprocated at the polls.

“It is the man that has given us a sense of belonging, President Bola Tinubu. Let it not be that we are from Ebonyi State and they are saying this state belongs to us. There is no Obidient person in Ebonyi State,” he added.

The minister maintained that the region would not be “deceived again” in 2027, describing the last election as a mistake.

“What we have to do is to record the good things that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done for the South-East and Ebonyi State when the time comes. We will not be deceived again. I will not finish naming all that the President is doing for us,” Umahi declared.
