Tinubu Convoy Attackers Arrested By Police In Lagos, Sponsor Identified

Attackers of APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu convoy, on the June 19 attack have been arrested in Lagos by the police.

 

Newsonline reports that the suspects disclosed that they were recruited by different gang leaders based on Lagos Island.

 

Recall that on June 19, the former governor of Lagos State convoy was ambushed by mobs and attacked while entering the state.

 

Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 (Lagos and Ogun), Bode Adeleke announced their arrest.

 

Speaking on the arrest of the suspects, the Zonal Public Relations Officer, of Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2, (Lagos and Ogun), SP Hauwa Idris-Adamu, disclosed the arrest of the suspects was carried out by detectives attached to Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.

 

The Police PPRO revealed that the suspects were arrested from multiple hideouts on Lagos Island.

SP Hauwa Idris-Adamu further disclosed that the Zone got information on the sponsors of the June 19 attack.

 

SP Hauwa Idris-Adamu said that for security reasons the Zonal command shall not make public the sponsors until it finishes its investigation.

 

Zonal Public Relations Officer, SP Hauwa Idris-Adamu said they were “sponsored by someone who we wouldn’t mention his name.

 

“They also belong to various cult fraternities. Investigations are still ongoing and we would get back to the press as soon as we have the principal suspect in our net.”

 

One of the suspects, Ramon Aniseoju, said, “We were paid to prevent those on the convoy from getting to the palace of the Oba of Lagos and to disperse them.”
