President Tinubu Administration has broken 15-year transparency tradition as budget, CBN, and Treasury reports go silent.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nigeria’s long-standing practice of publishing quarterly budget performance reports has been disrupted under President Bola Tinubu, sparking concerns over transparency and accountability.

A review shows that the Budget Office of the Federation has not updated its budget performance portal since the second quarter of 2024, marking the first time in 15 years that the legally mandated reports, under the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2007, have not been released to the public.

The blackout extends beyond the Budget Office. The Central Bank of Nigeria has not issued an economic report since February 2025, while the Open Treasury Portal, once used to track daily and quarterly government spending, contains no accessible data for 2025 expenditures.

For a nation grappling with economic hardship, the absence of fiscal data has fueled criticism that the Tinubu administration is deliberately shrinking avenues of public accountability. Transparency advocates warn that without these reports, Nigerians remain in the dark about how trillions of naira in public funds are being spent.
