Reuben Abati has mocked Peter Obi and urged him to consider a career in evangelism over Tinubu’s CSU Certificate Press Conference he held in Abuja.

Newsonline Nigeria reports that Arise TV ‘The Morning Show’ anchor, Dr Reuben Abati, has described as unnecessary, the action of the Labour Party (LP), presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in addressing a press conference on the ongoing controversy about President Bola Tinubu’s identity and academic records.

This Nigeria news platform understands that in a press conference held in Abuja, on Wednesday, Peter Obi called on  President Tinubu to clarify the controversy, about his academic record at Chicago State University (CSU).

He also asked the president to reveal his real identity to Nigerians and the world,  adding that the incident has brought international embarrassment to the country.

Reacting to this on the show, Dr Abati described Obi’s press conference as needless, implying that the former Governor of Anambra State was just seeking media attention and publicity which he actually received.

The former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan suggested that Obi should consider switching his career to evangelism.

“When I saw the press conference by Mr Peter Obi, I thought it was needless. If Mr Peter Obi is considering a career in evangelism, yes, there are many people who have gone from other careers into evangelism,” Abati stated.

“But within the framework of the electoral process, what he did was just seeking media attention, looking for publicity.”

Abati further stated that since the electoral process was in effect, if there were any grievances found by Obi, being a principal member of the process, he should pursue his matter in the court of law as his running opponent, Atiku Abubakar has done.

“The last time Waziri Atiku Abubakar had a press conference, he came out and said he wanted the candidate of the NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso to join him, and also Peter Obi of the Labour Party to join him. The Labour Party released a statement and said they were not part of it. Is it that now, the Labour Party has changed its mind?

“The only appropriate forum that Mr. Peter Obi can adopt is to go to court to say he has issues to raise but to come forward and be giving press conference and moralising, it doesn’t fall within the framework of the matter before us.

“But of course, for publicity purposes, for attention seeking purposes, what he has said has generated attention, and I think that the response that he has received from Felix Morka of the APC is in place.

“What Felix Morka has said is that the 8.9 million people who voted for Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Presidential election were not groggy when they did.

“There is really a division in the matter in the country, so the only place you can resolve it is not through propaganda, not through media attention. It is in the court of law.

“So Mr Peter Obi must be very clear about the fact that the matter is now before the Supreme Court and it is only the Supreme Court that can decide on the matter.” Abati added.
