President Tinubu Arrives Katsina For Buhari’s Burial

President Tinubu has arrived Katsina for Buhari’s burial.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived Katsina for President Muhammadu Buhari’s burial.

 

Recall that Tinubu’s wife and Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, had earlier arrived Daura, Katsina State, to attend the state funeral of Buhari.

The First Lady was joined by other high-ranking government officials and dignitaries who have converged on Daura for the burial rites.

The remains of the late former President is scheduled to arrive in Katsina by midday on Tuesday (today) from London with the interment set to take place in Daura later in the afternoon according to Islamic rites.

 

Buhari had died around 4:30 pm on Sunday evening in the United Kingdom.

 

Buhari, who first served as military head of state between 1983 and 1985, later returned as Nigeria’s democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, making him one of the few Nigerians to have led the country in both military and civilian capacities.

 

In honour of the late leader, the Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government declared a public holiday and constituted a high-powered committee to oversee a state burial, reflecting his status as a former head of state.

 

According to a government statement, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, will chair the Inter-Ministerial Committee coordinating the burial in conjunction with the Katsina State Government and the Buhari family.
