President Julius Maada Bio Congratulates Ruto, President-Elect Of Kenya

The fifth President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, President Julius Maada Bio, has congratulated the president-elect of the Republic of Kenya, William Ruto on his victory in the August 9 Kenyan general election.

 

Newsonline reports that President Julius Maada Bio said the victory of Ruto reaffirmed the general belief that democracy remained the best form of government in the world.

 

In a statement released on Monday, President Julius Maada Bio said, “I congratulate the President-Elect of the Republic of Kenya, Dr. William Ruto, on his victory in the August 9, 2022, General Elections. I also commend the people of Kenya for the peaceful outcome of the elections.”

 

Maada Bio added, “Once more, Kenya has reaffirmed our general beliefs that democracy and democratic processes remain the best way for people to choose and hold their leaders accountable.”

“Sierra Leone values Kenya as a strategic partner. The history of peace in Sierra Leone will be incomplete without mentioning Kenya’s support through the selfless service and courage of her soldiers, who were part of the KENBATT contingent.

 

“My government is committed to sustaining both countries’ long history of friendship,” he assured.

 

Newsonline had reported that the Kenyan Supreme Court in a unanimous ruling on Monday (today) morning ruled that Ruto was the rightful winner of the August 9 election.

 

Ruto’s victory had been contested by the incumbent president Raila Odinga.
