Gbajabiamila has honoured ICPC invitation and gave statement over fake agency amid probe.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has honoured an invitation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) as part of the ongoing investigation into the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Gbajabiamila appeared before investigators at the ICPC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, where he answered questions relating to the alleged activities of the purported agency.

His lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed the development in a statement, noting that the presidential aide fully cooperated with investigators before returning to his official duties.

“In full cooperation with the ICPC, acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and appeared at about 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others,” Ogunye said.

He added that Gbajabiamila gave his testimony, responded to all questions from investigators, and subsequently returned to his duty post.

The investigation follows President Tinubu’s directive on July 2, 2026, ordering the ICPC to conduct a comprehensive probe into the PFIPC controversy after allegations emerged surrounding the operations of the purported agency.

The President’s directive was conveyed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who said the anti-corruption commission had been mandated to conclude its investigation and submit a comprehensive report within 30 days.

The PFIPC has been at the centre of national attention following allegations that it operated without legal backing despite reportedly receiving budgetary allocations.
