NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Barrister Murtala Mohammed, the Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State, has resigned from the party after 27 years of active service.
In a letter dated July 4, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Nassarawa ‘A’ Ward, Chanchaga Local Government Area, Mohammed said he was stepping down due to disheartening political developments within the party.
He described his decision as one made from personal conviction and reflective of the disappointment felt by many of his supporters.
He noted that he had played key roles in the party since 1999, starting as one of its pioneer delegates, then as a member of the ward executive, and most recently as the State Legal Adviser.
While thanking the party for the opportunity to serve, he stated that he would continue to work for the development of Niger State and Nigeria, but through other political platforms.
His resignation letter was also sent to the PDP Chairman in Niger State and included the return of his original party membership card, formally ending his time with the PDP.
