As stakeholders seek peace in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) crisis ahead of the 2023 general election that has some few days for the official campaign to kick start, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Sokoto State, has opened up on issues relating to him.
Newsonline reports that Waziri Tambuwal said the rumour that he has given up his position in the party was by mischief makers.
Recall that Governor Tambuwal was responsible;le for the victory of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, by collapsing his camp for Atiku in the dying minutes of the May presidential primary.
Tambuwal’s action was seen as betrayal by Wike who had always stood behind the Sokoto state governor, but the national chairman of the PDP described Waziri Tambuwal as the hero of the primary election.
The primary election came and went, but the bruised remained, with moves to appease Wike who has held to his gun that Ayu should resign for him to work for the party.

On Thursday, the National Executive Council (NEC) of the PDP on Thursday passed a vote of confidence on Ayu, and the Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman, Walid Jibrin, resigned from his position, Wike has not been appeased.
Reports also said the PDP governors forum chairman, Tambuwal also resigned for Wike to be appeased.
However, in a press statement issued on Friday by the Director General of the forum, CID Maduabum, the Sokoto State governor described the report as false.
The statement read: “This is to inform the general public and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, that the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF), Rt Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has not resigned as Chairman of the Forum, contrary to some media reports.
“Members of the PDP Governors Forum are working behind the scenes to resolve all contending issues concerning the party. To this end a meeting of the Forum will soon be convened”.
