Nigerians Celebrate Pa Adebanjo For Supporting Peter Obi, Pray For More Life

Nigerians have taken over social media celebrating and praying for Pa Ayo Adebanjo for endorsing the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2023 election.

Newsonline reports the leader of pan Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organization said only Peter Obi, neither Tinubu nor Atiku can fix Nigeria.

Though the endorsement of the former Anambra State governor by Afenifere has generated backlash from the Tinubu Campaign Organization, the nonagenarian said the decision of Afenifere to endorse the presidential candidate of Labour Party against Tinubu who is a Yoruba was based on competence and justice.

Bayo Onanuga, the Director of Public Affairs on the All Progressives Congress (APC) Council in a reaction said the endorsement of an Igbo by Afenifere against Tinubu who is a Yoruba showed that Pa Ayo Adebanjo has turned the Yoruba pan organization to his personal estate.

In a statement on Tuesday, (today) Pa Adebanjo said, “I again reaffirm my support and the support of Afenifere on the candidature of Peter Obi, I did this again at a press briefing yesterday where I said “To keep Nigeria ONE everyone is supposed to support Obi-Datti because that is how to prove we are one indivisible.

“I, therefore, urge Nigerians not to be distracted, especially the youth who are the champion of this noble cause, we are with you and we will never derail.”

On July 29, the leader of Afeneifere said the APC presidential candidate, Tinubu, if elected, would continue President Buhari’s incompetence, assuring Nigerians that Peter Obi will not disappoint.

He said “Ahmed Tinubu will only give continuity to Buhari’s incompetence. We know Peter Obi very well, that is why we endorse him. He will not disappoint Nigerians, let us out tribal differences apart and vote right leaders.

On August 22, Pa Ayo said, Atiku and Tinubu are not qualified to contest this coming 2023 election, I support power shift to the southeast, and my support for Peter Obi is based on principle.

He further stated, “Anyone with superior arguments should come forward and let us dissect it together.
I stand firm on the position of Afenifere on power rotation. Those who accept Naira and Dollar from (Tinubu) can say what they like, but they should attack me on justice and equity.”

The decision of Pa Ayo and Afenifere to endorse Peter Obi not minding region but competence and justice has been greeted as a sign of wisdom by Nigerians, mostly youths.

Oladimeji Adigun said, “You did well supporting the right candidate, we need to see beyond the tribe to affirm that we are indeed civil. It’s South-East turn, only a biased human will not agree with you.”

Oloremi.M added, “Father you are indeed a great man, I have learned a lot to stand firm on my discussion no matter what, God bless you sir .keep your long life Amen.

For Daniel Balogun, “A wise man is not known by age, he is known by his handling of issues. A thug is always a thug, age notwithstanding. You have demonstrated the quality of a wise leader in critical times. Blessings.”
