Army Chief Leads Security Chiefs on Assessment Visit to Jos Over Plateau Security Concerns

Army Chief today led Security Chiefs on assessment visit to Jos over Plateau security concerns.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday led heads of security agencies on an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Jos, Plateau State.

 

According to a statement issued by Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to restore calm and ensure lasting peace in the state.

 

Upon arrival, the army chief was received by the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, a development the army described as a demonstration of strong civil-military cooperation aimed at addressing emerging security challenges in the region.

During the visit, the COAS received a detailed operational briefing from the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of the Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola. The briefing highlighted ongoing military operations and proactive strategies being implemented in collaboration with other security agencies to contain threats, protect lives and property, and stabilise affected communities.

 

As part of his engagements, Lieutenant General Shaibu also met with community leaders and residents, assuring them of the Nigerian Army’s continued commitment to protecting law-abiding citizens. He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies by complying with the curfew and cooperating with ongoing operations and investigations while continuing their lawful activities.

 

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, Dachung Bagos, commended the army chief for the timely visit. He noted that the presence of the nation’s top military leadership in the area would help boost public confidence and strengthen trust in the ongoing security efforts aimed at restoring peace in the region.
