2. The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the killing of seven persons by gunmen suspected to be members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in the Orogwe area of the State. The police spokesperson, CSP Mike Abattam, in a statement on Wednesday, said the gunmen stormed the neighbourhood on Monday night and opened fire on the residents of a building in the community.

3. The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, yesterday, confirmed a N1.14 billion donation to the Republic of Niger to aid in the acquisition of some operational vehicles. Zainab noted that the President reserved the right to take decisions in the interest of Nigeria, insisting that “this was not the first time the country is providing such interventions to her neighbours.”

4. Gunmen operating in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State have abducted a former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Benson Nwawulu. Sources said Nwawulu, a two-term lawmaker in the State Assembly, was abducted in his house in Ihiala on Sunday.

5. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has declared Nigeria’s popular Instagram celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha, aka Mompha, wanted. It urged Nigerians with information on Mompha’s whereabouts to speak up or contact the nearest police station.

6. The National Assembly has expressed fears over the worsening insecurity in the country, particularly the recent attacks on the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by terrorists. Following the worsening insecurity, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, on Wednesday, summoned the security chiefs to a marathon meeting where he described the situation as the most frightening.

7. The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State has declared that the Interior Minister, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, and his supporters, were no longer in the party and may be working to make APC lose future elections in the State. Addressing newsmen in Osogbo on Wednesday, the State APC Youth Leader, Goke Akinwemimo, said Aregbesola sponsored the Tuesday protest to blackmail the leadership of APC in Osun.

8. Bandits have reportedly abducted the Rector of the School of Statistics, Manchok, in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A source said the hoodlums also killed a resident during the attack on Monday.

9. Residents of the Federal Capital Territory may soon experience a fresh round of fuel scarcity, as it was gathered that tanker drivers have declined to take products to the FCT due to bad road network and high diesel prices. Sources within the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, and Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria disclosed this on Tuesday.

10. The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set up a committee to reconcile its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers. Former lawmaker and member of the board, Sen. Abdul Ningi disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the end of the BoT meeting on Wednesday in Abuja.
