1. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, on Thursday, said it would end the importation of refined petroleum products by December 2024 as all the country’s refineries would be operational by then. It also projected that the national oil firm would grow its revenue to N4.5tn at the end of 2023, adding that the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refining Company, under NNPCL’s management, would be completed by December this year.

2. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has directed the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, to investigate the allegation that some personnel aid terrorists. The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Chris Musa, had accused some personnel of the correctional service of conniving with inmates to finance the operations of terrorists.

3. The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Thursday, affirmed the electoral victories of the governors of Nasarawa and Gombe states, Abdullahi Sule and Inuwa Yahaya, respectively. Both governors were elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

4. The Peoples Democratic Party in Nasarawa State has expressed dissatisfaction with the Thursday judgment of the Court of Appeal affirming the victory of the state governor, Abdullahi Sule. The state election petition tribunal, led by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi in a split judgment had sacked Sule, declaring David Ombugadu of the PDP the winner of the governorship election. However, the Appeal Court has reversed the decision.

5. The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday raised the alarm that supporters of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party are planning a mass protest on Saturday to target their members. The APC members called on the police and other security agencies to take proactive measures to avoid loss of life and property.

6. The Labour Party governorship candidate for Imo, Athan Achonu, and scores of his supporters on Thursday stormed the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja to demand the certified true copy of the just concluded poll in the state.

7. Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State says the administration of President Bola Tinubu inherited a dead economy. The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said part of the problem was that the apex bank was illegally printing money in total violation of the 2007 Act governing the financial institution.

8. Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, has picked up his certificate of return as Senator of Plateau South in the upper chamber of the National Assembly. Both the tribunal and the Appeal Court had declared the former governor winner of the February 25 senatorial election in Plateau State.

9. Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has urged the Federal Government to channel ecological funds into tackling life-threatening environmental issues. Akpabio gave the advice on Thursday when he hosted officials of the Ecological Project Office, led by the Permanent Secretary, Mallam Shehu Ibrahim, at the Senate.

10. Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has directed the freezing of all the state and local governments’ accounts with immediate effect. A statement by the Commissioner for Finance, Asiwaju Asiru Idris, made this known on Thursday in Lokoja, the state capital.
