1. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, yesterday, restated his five-point programme, saying he is committed to the development of the country. He stated this while addressing party faithful and supporters at a campaign rally held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.

2. President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday officially opened the Pinnacle Oil and Gas FZE Terminal in Lekki, Lagos, stating that the facility’s activities had lowered costs and improved the distribution of petroleum products to many areas in the country while also easing traffic in the Apapa area of the state.

3. No fewer than 53,418 Nigerians lost their lives to non-state actors between May 29, 2015, and October 15, 2022. The deaths occurred mostly from farmers/herders’ conflict, clashes by religious groups, and attacks by terrorists and bandits. The data of Nigerians killed since the inception of the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari were obtained from the Nigerian Security Tracker, a project of the Council on Foreign Relations of the United States of America.

4. The Zamfara State Police Command has rescued 27 victims who were abducted by a group in Akawa, Gwashi, Tungar Rogo and Anka villages and taken to bandits’ camps at Gando/Bagega and Sunke forests in the Bukkuyum and Anka Local Government Areas of the state. Briefing newsmen on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu, said the development followed a report received by the command that a group of terrorists invaded some villages in Anka and Bukkuyum local governments and abducted an unspecified number of people.

5. The Academic Staff Union of Universities has again filed an appeal against the judgment of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria which ordered the striking lecturers to return to work. It was also gathered that the court had yet to fix a date for the official hearing of the suit.

6. The Divisional Police Officer of Auchi Division, Edo State, CSP Ayodele Suleiman, has been removed by the state Commissioner of Police, AIG Abutu Yaro, following the death of a suspect allegedly involved in the attack on the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, Apostle Johnson Suleman’s convoy.

7. Ethnic youth leaders in the country have accused some senators loyal to some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors of plotting to ensure the removal of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

8. President Muhammadu Buhari has reached out to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, pledging the full support of the Federal administration in assisting him and the people of Benue with resources to investigate the latest herder-farmer killings.

9. Retired General T.Y Danjuma has again called on Nigerians to take up arms against terrorists and bandits. In his goodwill message at the presentation of staff of office to 25th Aku-Uka of Wukari in Taraba State, Manu Ishaku Adda Ali, on Saturday, Danjuma alleged that the Armed Forces were either unwilling to defend the country or that Nigeria is under siege.

10. For the umpteenth time, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has slammed a visa ban on Nigerians seeking to visit Dubai. The ban was conveyed in a notice issued to the country’s trade partners in Nigeria, including travel agents.
