1. The legal teams of President Bola Tinubu and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, will resume a legal battle over the President’s Chicago academic records in a United States court on Monday. A US District Judge, Nancy Maldonado, had on Thursday agreed to stay an order directing Chicago State University to make Tinubu’s academic document available to Atiku’s legal team.

2. The presidency has apologised for a claim that President Bola Tinubu is the first African leader to ring the bell at the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations (NASDAQ). In a statement on Friday, the presidency said the error was “deeply regretted”.

3. Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso, has formally assumed duty as the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Dr. Cardoso and his colleagues subscribed to the relevant oaths of office at a brief ceremony held at the bank’s Head Office in Abuja, on Friday, and have since settled down to the task of administering monetary and financial sector policies of the federal government.

4. Bandits on Friday morning abducted an unspecified number of students from the Federal University of Gusau. The bandits in large numbers were also said to have invaded the Sabon-Gida community of the Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State with several residents also abducted.

5. The governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Jos, has upheld the election of Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State. The tribunal, led by Justice. R. Irele-Ifineh, held that the issues raised by the petitioner on party structure were pre-election matters and the petitioners lacked the jurisdiction to challenge it.

6. The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has condemned the killing of security agents and the subsequent burning of houses and businesses belonging to innocent residents by soldiers in Imo State. Ohanaeze in a statement signed by the President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, on Friday described both incidents as unacceptable to Ndigbo Worldwide.

7. Troops of Operation Safe Haven have arrested a gun manufacturing syndicate in Kaduna State and recovered a total of 26 weapons from them. The media officer for the Special Military Taskforce, Captain Oya James, disclosed this in a statement he issued in Jos on Friday.

8. The Federal Government has increased the salaries of academic and non-academic staff of its tertiary institutions, including universities, polytechnics and colleges of education by 25 per cent. It confirmed the approval of the new percentage increment in salaries through the National Salaries, Wages and Income Commission (NSWIC).

9. Doctor Abayomi Baiyewu, from Obitoks Hospital in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State, who performed two surgeries on the late Adebola Akin-Bright, has been revealed not to be a certified surgeon. This revelation emerged from the House of Assembly ad hoc committee’s investigation into Adebola’s demise.

10. The business community across the country yesterday warned that the planned nationwide strike by organised labour over workers’ welfare does not bode well for the country and the economy at this particular time.
The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is scheduled to convene on Tuesday to decide on the strike, NLC National President Joe Ajaero said on Friday.
