NDPHC MD Jennifer Adighije have been caught on camera handing ₦20 million to Actress Sarah Martins, allegedly for Seyi Tinubu leading to a fresh scandal.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that a new controversy has erupted online after a viral video surfaced showing Jennifer Adighije, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), allegedly handing over ₦20 million in cash to Nollywood actress Sarah Martins, purportedly on behalf of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

According to reports, the clip which has been widely circulated on social media shows Adighije presenting bundles of U.S. dollar notes to Martins while allegedly saying, “Seyi asked me to give this to you. He is out of the country… when he comes back, he said I should let you know he will see you and expects you to be able to get a shop with this.”

In the footage, Martins is seen breaking down in tears, repeatedly expressing gratitude.

“God bless you, Mr. Seyi Tinubu. God bless you, sir. This means a lot, and it will go a long way,” she said emotionally.

The development comes days after Martins accused Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) officials of harassing her during a charity outreach in Ikate, Lekki, where she claimed they seized food items and equipment meant for the less privileged.

The Lagos State Government, however, defended the KAI officials, stating that Martins violated environmental and safety laws by cooking on a road median without authorisation.

Following the backlash, Martins took to Instagram to announce that she had received ₦20 million from Seyi Tinubu and the Noella Foundation, directed by his wife, Layla Tinubu, to support her outreach.

But in a swift reaction, Seyi Tinubu denied making any such donation.

He clarified that while he was aware of the incident, the money came from “a group of compassionate friends” who were moved by Martins’ ordeal.

“My friends, moved by compassion, contributed the funds. While I appreciate their gesture, I must emphasise that I do not support any activity that violates state laws,” Seyi stated.

However, the emergence of the viral video showing Adighije directly handing the cash to Martins has cast serious doubt on the earlier explanations and raised fresh questions about the source of the funds and the role of government officials in the matter.

Adighije, who was appointed NDPHC Managing Director in August 2024, has yet to respond to the controversy as of the time of filing this report.
